Corporate Christmas Parties
In all my years of planning events, I have learned that the work Christmas party is rarely just a party. It is a thank-you to a team that has worked hard all year, a real morale boost, and, whether we like it or not, a statement about the company. Get it right, and people talk about it well into January. I’m sharing the ideas I see working best for corporate Christmas parties in 2026, along with the practical advice I give my own clients. This ranges from themes and entertainment to activities for adults and, just as importantly, when to start planning.
Having suffered at the hands of many a dull (and slightly dreaded!) At the Christmas party, I relish the challenge of shaking things up a bit so that clients come away from the experience feeling that, for once, the event was refreshing. ‘Something a bit different’ is so often the brief, and this is exactly why Sugar & Rind was conceived. My greatest pleasure is to create unique, standout Christmas parties with bold, fun-loving themes, decor, and entertainment so that guests genuinely have a memorable experience.
When Should You Start Planning Your Work Christmas Party?
Earlier than most people think. I see demand for corporate Christmas events build through August and peak around September, and the best venues, dates and suppliers are always booked first. The teams that end up with the standout options are the ones that start early in the year.
My advice is simple: if December is in your plans, begin the conversation as soon as the New Year rolls in. Even a rough brief and a provisional date put you ahead of the rush and give you the pick of venues rather than what is left. If you are reading this earlier in the year, you are already ahead.
My Favourite Work Christmas Party Ideas for 2026
The best corporate Christmas parties have a clear idea at their heart, rather than simply a room and a bar. These are the formats and themes my team and I are most often asked for, and they consistently land well with corporate teams.
1. An Apres-Ski Christmas
This is my theme of the moment, and here are my reasons: it’s warm, social, and full of personality. For 2026, we have teamed up with a series of characterful East London venues, including Kachette, Whitechapel East and Hoxton Hall, for a ready-to-go evening of après-ski vibes, with cosy mountain decor, snowy trees and lively entertainment all night. It is one of the easiest ways to give a team a real sense of occasion without having to build an event from scratch.
2. A Luxury Christmas Gala Dinner
A refined, formal celebration with real visual impact: beautifully styled dining, seasonal menus, premium wines, live music and attentive service. This is my natural recommendation for corporate Christmas parties where elegance and presence matter and where you want to mark the year properly.
3. An Immersive Themed Production
Where theme, decor and entertainment work together to transform a space from an alpine lodge to a cinematic, festive world. An immersive production engages guests from the moment they arrive, and it suits teams who want their party to feel like an experience rather than an evening out.
4. A Rooftop Christmas Cocktail and Supper Club
City views, festive cocktails and relaxed dining, with a premium finish. This format combines atmosphere and informality, and I find it tends to suit creative and social teams who want something stylish but unstuffy.
5. A Private Members’ Club Celebration
Discreet, polished and exclusive: private access to a prestigious members’ club, with curated menus, premium drinks and subtle entertainment. I often suggest this for senior teams and client-facing Christmas parties, where the guest list and the impression both matter.
6. A Festive Countryside Retreat
A Christmas party with room to breathe. Country estates and private houses offer accommodation, seasonal activities and an evening celebration, which works particularly well for leadership teams, incentives and end-of-year company retreats.
7. Bring the Party to Your Office
If you are keeping costs in check, an in-office party can still feel genuinely special, and we love doing them. Bespoke menus from canapes to a theatrical multi-course dinner, craft cocktails and proper bar service, plus theming and decoration, can turn a familiar space into something memorable, with none of the venue hire.
One of the events that we enjoyed organising the most was for Cadogan Tate at Bush Hall last year. This high-end removal company wanted a formal sit-down meal and gorgeous decoration. I paid a visit to the flower market on the morning of the event and created a gorgeous Christmassy vibe with berries, pussy willow, lanterns and candles. The tables really did shine. One of my favourite magicians, Sav, circulated during the drinks reception and the meal, surprising and delighting the guests with his close-up magic tricks. Upstairs was a photobooth, and the evening ended with music from our brilliant in-house DJ, Onetrax.
Christmas Party Entertainment Ideas
Entertainment is what turns a well-organised event into one people remember. It sets the tone, drives the energy and keeps guests engaged from arrival to the final song. For a corporate audience, the balance matters: polished, inclusive and aligned to your people and your brand. The ideas I come back to most are the following:
- Live music to open the evening, from a jazz trio during a drinks reception to a band that fills the floor later on.
- A DJ to carry the energy through the night, especially for younger or more social teams.
- Roaming or interactive performers, such as close-up magicians, aerialists or festive characters, to create moments between courses.
- Immersive staging and lighting make the entertainment part of the environment rather than a single act on a stage.
Work Christmas Party Activities for Adults
Activities give guests something to do beyond eating and drinking and help break the ice between teams that do not always work together. For an adult corporate crowd, the ones I am asked for most include the following:
- Cocktail or mixology masterclasses, hosted by award-winning bartenders.
- Casino tables for a glamorous, sociable focal point.
- A silent disco, which suits venues with sound limits and always gets people involved.
- Interactive food and drink stations, from a Champagne bar to a festive street-food corner.
- Photo moments and installations that double as decoration and as something for guests to share.
Choosing the Right Format for Your Team
The best idea is the one that fits your people. A small senior team and a 200-strong company want very different evenings, and so do a formal professional services firm and a young creative studio. Before settling on a theme, I always work through three things with a client: the size and make-up of the guest list, the impression you want the evening to leave, and a realistic budget. Those three answers point quickly to the right format.
Venue or Office: Which Is Right?
Hiring a venue gives you scale, atmosphere, and a complete change of scenery, but the best spaces book up early, and venue-finding takes time. Bringing the party into your own office keeps costs down while still feeling elevated with the right catering, theming, and entertainment. If you would like help finding a venue, my team does this year-round, drawing on a list of Christmas party venues we update every year, so we always have the latest options to hand.
Making Your Corporate Christmas Party Inclusive and On-Brand
A corporate party has to work for everyone in the room, and this matters to me. A few thoughtful choices go a long way: offer an appealing range of non-alcoholic drinks rather than an afterthought, cater properly for dietary needs and preferences, and consider timing and format so that people with caring responsibilities can take part. I also think the evening should reflect your company, in tone and in detail, so it feels like your celebration rather than a generic one. Done well, an inclusive party is simply a better party.
My Tips for a Stress-Free Corporate Christmas Party
- Start early, ideally by late summer, to secure the best venues and dates.
- Set a clear budget and guest number before you fall in love with an idea.
- Choose one strong concept and let it guide the venue, menu, entertainment and styling.
- Plan for everyone, with inclusive drinks, menus and timings.
- Hand the details to a planner so you can enjoy the evening as a guest rather than running it from the edge of your desk.
My top tips for anyone planning a Christmas party this year are to pepper it with short bursts of entertainment. The reality is that partying with your colleagues isn’t always 100% comfortable from a social perspective! So why not chuck in additional entertainment to create talking points from the outset? Personally, I favour a standing party for work events, but some more corporate organisations feel that one-on-one time at a dinner table is important. If that’s the case, shorten the dinner to 2 courses and provide canapes on arrival. You can even have just one course and then provide a dessert station so that people who don’t want to be stuck at a table aren’t stuck at a table!
Finally, music is everything. Yes, everyone likes pop. But why not throw in something with a heavier beat at the end for those who really like to party? Clients are afraid of it, but you’d be surprised how well it goes down at an office Christmas do, mostly because people aren’t expecting it.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are some good work Christmas party ideas?
Popular corporate ideas for 2026 include an après-ski-themed evening, a luxury gala dinner, an immersive themed production, a rooftop cocktail and supper club, a private members’ club celebration, a festive countryside retreat, or bringing the party into your own office. The right choice depends on your team size, the impression you want to make, and your budget.
When should we book our corporate Christmas party?
As early as you can, ideally by late summer. Demand peaks around September, and the best venues, dates and suppliers are booked first, so starting early gives you the pick of the options.
What are good work Christmas party activities for adults?
Cocktail masterclasses, casino tables, a silent disco, interactive food and drink stations, and photo moments and installations all work well for an adult corporate crowd, giving guests something to do and helping different teams mix.
What entertainment works best at a corporate Christmas party?
A mix tends to work best: live music or a jazz trio for the reception, a DJ or band later, and roaming performers such as magicians or festive characters between courses. For a corporate audience, the key is to keep it polished, inclusive, and aligned with your brand.
Should we hire a venue or have the party in our office?
A venue offers scale and atmosphere but books up early; an in-office party keeps costs down and can still feel special with the right catering, theming and entertainment. We can help with venue finding if you would like a dedicated space.
How much does a corporate Christmas party cost?
It depends entirely on the format, guest numbers, venue, catering and entertainment, so there is no single figure. We build each event around your budget and provide a clear, tailored proposal after an initial conversation.
Can you plan a Christmas party outside London?
Yes. We plan Christmas parties across London, the home counties and the Cotswolds, including countryside retreats and in-office events wherever your team is based.
