Luxury Wedding Planning
Planning a wedding should be one of the most exciting things you ever do. But with hundreds of venues, endless suppliers, spiralling Pinterest boards and approximately 47 decisions to make about chairs alone, it can quickly become overwhelming.
A luxury wedding planner does far more than make everything look beautiful. We help you work out what really matters to you, find the right people and places to make it happen, manage the budget and logistics, and bring all those individual elements together into one brilliantly considered celebration. Most importantly, we make sure you can actually enjoy it.
A Personal Opening Note
An initial rapport with the bride and groom to be is where it all starts. Am I your wedding person?! Being 52 these days, I like to think that hiring me gives my couples a feeling of security. I’ve been married myself (for 20 years!) and I really do remember the intricacies of the process. There’s the family dynamics, the stress over cost and so many other things to get right for everyone. I also care deeply about family. I have three children and a large family of my own so family is very much at the heart of it for me. From there, with my couples dead centre, we build a beautiful day that touches everyone from start to finish.
How to Choose an Experienced Wedding Planner For Your Wedding
Your wedding planner is going to become very involved in your life for a while, so chemistry matters. You need someone whose judgement you trust, who understands your style and who you feel completely comfortable being honest with.
Experience is important, but look beyond a planner's portfolio. Ask how they work, how they manage budgets, how involved they are on the wedding day and whether they have experience of the kind of celebration you are considering. A beautiful Instagram feed is one thing; calmly dealing with a supplier problem at 4pm while 150 guests remain blissfully unaware is quite another.
At Sugar & Rind, our approach is highly personal. We get to know you first, understand what you love – and what you absolutely don't – and then build the wedding around you. You should never feel as though you are being slotted into somebody else's wedding formula.
Which Venue Should I Choose?
Choosing your venue is one of the biggest decisions you will make, because it influences almost everything that follows: guest numbers, style, catering, entertainment, accommodation and, of course, budget.
Before falling in love with somewhere based purely on photographs, think about how you actually want the wedding to feel. Are you imagining a long weekend in the countryside with everyone staying together? A glamorous London celebration? Dinner and dancing at home? Or several days somewhere wonderfully sunny?
Take a look below at the range of options you might choose from.
Countryside Weddings at a Venue
For couples who want to make a real occasion of their wedding, a country house, private estate or beautiful rural venue is hard to beat. The Cotswolds, Somerset and the home counties offer some extraordinary properties, from elegant manor houses and private estates to barns and beautiful gardens where you can create something entirely bespoke.
One of the great advantages is time. Rather than guests arriving for a few hours and disappearing again, a countryside wedding can become a full weekend: welcome drinks on Friday, the wedding on Saturday and a relaxed brunch or barbecue on Sunday.
Look carefully at accommodation, access, wet-weather options, licensing and any restrictions around music or finish times. A spectacular property can be the perfect canvas, but it needs to work operationally as well as aesthetically.
Urban Weddings
For glamour, energy and sheer variety, city weddings are fantastic. London in particular offers everything from historic buildings and private members' clubs to contemporary galleries, hotels, restaurants and unexpected spaces that can be completely transformed.
An urban wedding also gives you incredible access to suppliers, entertainment and hotels at every level. Logistics do need careful thought – particularly transport, loading access, parking and moving guests between locations – but with the right planning, a London wedding can feel effortlessly slick.
And don't assume a city wedding has to feel formal. Some of the most exciting celebrations come from taking an unexpected venue and filling it with colour, personality and brilliant entertainment.
Weddings at Home
There is something incredibly special about getting married at home. It is personal from the outset, and you have the freedom to create a celebration that feels completely your own.
But home weddings are often more complex than they appear. You're effectively building a venue from scratch. Marquees, kitchens, power, additional toilets or portaloos for larger numbers, staffing, parking with clear instructions in your invitations, waste removal, notifying neighbours in advance, checking local noise restrictions, wet-weather contingencies, protecting the house and garden, and whether a temporary licence is needed if alcohol will be sold all need consideration.
You cannot hold a legal ceremony at home in the UK, but you can have a blessing there after a registry office marriage.
Done properly, however, the result can be extraordinary. A familiar garden can become an incredible dining space, a marquee can feel like a beautiful temporary restaurant, and rooms inside the house can be completely transformed for cocktails or late-night dancing. This is our sweet-spot!
Destination Weddings
A destination wedding gives you the opportunity to create an experience rather than simply a day. Whether that's a villa in Ibiza, an Italian palazzo or a French château, bringing your favourite people together somewhere beautiful can feel incredibly special.
The key is to think beyond the ceremony itself. Travel, transfers, accommodation and guest communications all become part of the planning, while local suppliers, regulations and language can add another layer of complexity.
We love treating destination weddings as a journey for guests: perhaps welcome drinks on the first evening, the wedding the following day and a relaxed pool party or lunch before everyone heads home. When it is planned well, the whole weekend feels seamless.
What Was My Favourite Wedding Moment?
Well! It’s a really simple one but I once worked with The Function Band who are quite honestly one of the best! There’s something really spectacular about the way they dance and sing the guests to their seats. If the guests are already standing on their chairs, waving napkins and tambourines before they’ve even sat down for dinner- you know you’re in for a very good night!
Make Your Wedding Stand Out
The weddings people remember aren't necessarily the ones with the biggest budgets. They're the ones with personality.
Your wedding shouldn't feel like a collection of things you've seen at other weddings. We want to find the details, ideas and experiences that say something about the two of you. That might be an incredible venue, an unexpected performance, a brilliantly designed bar, fabulous food or simply a dance floor nobody wants to leave.
Detail and Design
Luxury doesn't have to mean covering every surface with flowers. The most successful wedding design is cohesive rather than excessive.
Colour, florals, furniture, tableware, stationery, linens, lighting and signage should feel as though they belong together, while still leaving room for surprise. We often start with a couple's tastes rather than a prescribed "wedding theme", then build a visual world around them.
It is the layering of details that makes a space feel considered and special – and often the smallest touches are the ones guests notice.
Entertainment
Great entertainment changes the energy of a wedding.
A beautiful ceremony and dinner can be wonderful, but entertainment creates those spontaneous moments everyone talks about afterwards. That might mean live musicians during drinks, an unexpected performer between courses, a magician working the room or an incredible band and DJ who know exactly how to build a dance floor.
The important thing is that it feels right for you and for your guests. Entertainment shouldn't feel bolted on simply because weddings are "supposed" to have a band. We think about where it sits within the flow of the day and what you want guests to feel at each stage.
Immersive Staging, Lighting and Theming
Lighting is one of the most powerful – and sometimes underestimated – elements of wedding design. It can completely alter the atmosphere of a room, highlight architecture, make flowers look even more beautiful and transform a dinner space into a nightclub later in the evening.
Staging can take that transformation further. Bespoke bars, draping, dance floors, installations, suspended florals and cleverly designed sets allow us to create spaces that guests genuinely weren't expecting.
The aim isn't to turn your wedding into a themed event. It's to create an environment that feels immersive, distinctive and unmistakably yours.
Creating a Wedding That Works for All Your Guests
A great wedding has your personality at its heart, but it also considers the people you've invited to share it with you.
That doesn't mean trying to please everybody. It means thinking carefully about the guest experience. Are older relatives comfortable? Is there somewhere quieter to sit away from the dance floor? Are children included or entertained? Does the music appeal to different generations? Is there plenty for non-drinkers to enjoy?
The best weddings have different rhythms throughout the day, so guests can dip in and out while the celebration continues around them. When everyone feels considered, the atmosphere is noticeably better.
Your Top Wedding Planning Tip
The one thing I wish that every couple knew before they started planning their wedding is ‘as long as you enjoy yourself, then everyone else will.’ It doesn't matter if it rains. It doesn’t matter if it’s too hot or if the catering van gets stuck in the mud on arrival. As long as the bride and groom sits back and just enjoys the fact that everyone is there for THEM, whilst letting us do the running, it’s a slam dunk for happy smiley faces all day long.
Let Us Bring Your Wedding to Life
At Sugar & Rind, we plan weddings that are beautiful, brilliantly organised and full of personality.
We can be involved from the very beginning as an experienced wedding planner—helping you find the perfect venue, shaping the initial vision, and guiding the planning process to save time and reduce stress—right through to sourcing suppliers, managing budgets, overseeing design, entertainment and production, and running every detail on the wedding day itself, including overseeing setup, managing transitions, and resolving problems.
Our job is to take the pressure away without taking the fun out of it. Most couples want support that keeps everything seamless while still feeling personal, and nearly 9 in 10 couples say planners help their wedding day go perfectly. You remain at the heart of every decision; we simply bring the experience, ideas, contacts and organisation needed to turn those decisions into something extraordinary for your perfect day.
If you're planning a wedding in London, the home counties, the Cotswolds, Somerset or further afield, we'd love to hear about your love story and what would make your special day feel just right.

Frequently Asked Questions
What entertainment works best at a luxury wedding?
There isn't one type of entertainment that automatically makes a wedding luxurious. The best choice is the one that suits the couple, the venue and the atmosphere you want to create. Live bands, brilliant DJs, roaming musicians, magicians and unexpected performances can all work beautifully. We concentrate on quality, timing and how each act fits into the wider guest experience rather than simply filling the schedule with entertainment.
Do I really need a planner?
Not every wedding needs a full-service planner, but if you have a demanding job, are planning a large or logistically complicated celebration, or simply don't want wedding planning to become your second career, an experienced wedding planning team can make an enormous difference. We manage the detail, suppliers, schedules, negotiations and inevitable problems behind the scenes, helping save time across the planning process and leaving you to concentrate on the enjoyable decisions – and, crucially, to enjoy your wedding when it arrives and have the perfect day.
So many venues, so much choice! How can you help me?
Venue sourcing is one of the areas where a planner can save you huge amounts of time. Rather than sending you an endless list of beautiful properties, we start with your guest numbers, location, budget, style and priorities to help you find the right venue, whether that's a boutique hotel, somewhere with standout outdoor spaces or a setting better suited to intimate gatherings, and create a focused shortlist. Most couples then want to visit their favourites before deciding, especially when weighing up the ceremony and reception flow. We also know which practical questions to ask, from curfews and catering restrictions to accommodation, access and wet-weather plans, so you understand exactly what you're taking on before signing a contract.
I don't want a cookie-cutter wedding. How will you help to make it stand out?
Good – neither do we. We don't start with a wedding package or a fixed formula. We start with you. We want to know what you love, where you go, what you eat, the music you listen to and how you entertain your friends. From there, we develop ideas that feel personal rather than simply following current wedding trends, creating a celebration that reflects your love story. The result should look and feel like your wedding, not somebody else's with different names on the stationery.
How can we keep the wedding inclusive to all ages?
Think about the day from several guests' perspectives. Comfortable seating, good food choices, thoughtful timings, children's entertainment where appropriate and spaces away from loud music can make an enormous difference. Entertainment can also bridge generations brilliantly – particularly live music and performers who interact with guests. You don't need to design a different wedding for every age group; you simply need to make sure everyone has been considered.
I'm on a budget but everything is so expensive – how can you help me manage that?
Almost every wedding has a budget, including very luxurious ones. The important thing is deciding where your money will have the greatest impact. We help establish a realistic budget at the beginning, track expenditure as plans develop and advise where it is worth investing and where you can pull back without compromising the overall experience. Our supplier relationships and experience also mean we understand what things should cost and can spot potential overspend early. A good wedding budget isn't about making everything cheaper; it's about spending intelligently.
