The summer party is my favourite kind of corporate event to plan. Not a great lover of winter, the cold or the indoors, summer affords so much more opportunity for activities and interaction and that gets me excited! Done well, a summer party is the event people quietly hope repeats every year. Done as an afterthought, it is a warm room and a lukewarm glass of wine.
Having sat through my fair share of the second kind, I relish the chance to shake things up. Something ‘a bit different’ is so often the brief, and it is exactly why Sugar & Rind exists. Here are the summer party themes and ideas I see landing best with corporate teams in 2026, along with the practical advice I give my own clients, from themes and entertainment to activities and, just as importantly, when to start planning.

Earlier than most people think. Demand for corporate summer parties builds through spring, and the best outdoor venues, rooftops and gardens are booked first. The teams that end up with the standout options are the ones that start the conversation over winter.
My advice is simple: if a summer party is in your plans, begin as soon as the New Year settles. Even a rough brief and a provisional date put you ahead of the rush and give you the pick of spaces rather than what is left. If you are reading this earlier in the year, you are already ahead.
My Favourite Corporate Summer Party Themes for 2026
The best corporate summer parties have a clear idea at their heart rather than simply a space and a bar. These are the summer party themes my team and I are most often asked for, and they consistently land well.
1. A Festival Summer Social
Relaxed, warm and full of personality: think street-food stalls, a live stage, garden bars and a golden-hour finish. It suits sociable teams who want atmosphere over formality, and it scales beautifully from fifty people to several hundred.
2. A Quintessentially English Garden Party
Elegant and unmistakably summer: pretty styling, sharing tables, seasonal food and long drinks on the lawn. This is my natural recommendation where you want charm and a sense of occasion without the black tie.
3. Rooftop Sundowners
City views, signature cocktails and relaxed dining, with a premium finish. This format combines atmosphere and informality, and I find it tends to suit creative and client-facing teams who want something stylish but easy.
4. A Riviera Escape
A little Mediterranean glamour brought to London: crisp whites and blues, spritzes and seafood, and a soundtrack that makes people feel like they have left the office far behind. Guests dress for it, which does half the work for you.
5. A Great Gatsby Lawn Party
For teams that love a theme to lean into: 1920s styling, jazz, a Champagne bar and lawn games. It is a favourite because it permits guests to have fun the moment they arrive.
6. A Retro Sports Day and Games Afternoon
Playful and brilliant for team spirit: garden games, a light-hearted tournament and prizes, followed by food and drinks as the competitive edge softens. It gets people from different teams talking, which is often the real point.
7. Bring the Party to Your Own Space
If you are keeping costs in check, your own terrace, courtyard or office can still feel special, and we love doing them. Bespoke catering, proper bar service, theming and a little production can turn a familiar space into somewhere memorable, with none of the venue hire fees.
Hanover Investors briefed us to create a relaxed, informal ‘Festival Style Summer Party’ at their Founder’s home in The Cotswolds. They wanted afternoon interactive games, followed by a relaxed BBQ with entertainment throughout. So we set about working our magic with our favourite suppliers.
Firstly, we briefed our stretch tent company to provide us with a lovely stretch marquee and a pagoda for a bar area. The team were transported out of London via bus and the afternoon began with cocktails on arrival and one of our favourite roaming bands to get everyone in the party mood. Lunch started with an opening speech by the Founder, followed by a gorgeous plated meal provided by Jimmy Garcia Catering – one of London’s best!
Once lunch was over, the guests made their way to the big open field that belonged to the house, where the team was put into groups rotating between ferret racing, archery, clay pigeon shooting, mini golf, and geese herding. What could have been more fun?!
As evening fell, our Piano Man played crowd-pleasing classics and the singers in the business joined in, really impressing us with their vocal range. A BBQ was then served, the fire pits were lit and the evening ended with some seriously energetic dancing to one of our favourite DJ’s. All in all, it was a long day of fun, team building and jollity for one and all.
Summer Party Entertainment Ideas
Entertainment is what turns a well-organised event into one people remember. For a corporate summer audience, the balance matters: polished, inclusive and suited to daylight and the outdoors. The ideas I come back to most are:
- Live acoustic or a jazz trio to open the afternoon and set an easy tone.
- A DJ or band later to carry the energy into the evening as the light drops.
- Roaming performers and garden-games hosts to create moments between food and drinks.
- Immersive staging and lighting so the setting still works once the sun goes down.
‘Girls that Mix’ is a one-of-a-kind act that just absolutely smashed it at a corporate party for us this year. This act consists of a DJ, a bongo player, a saxophonist, and you can even add a singer if required! No need for a band AND a DJ; these girls have got it all wrapped up with their sequins, their vibe and their amazing musicality. I absolutely love working with them and continue to recommend them to every client that’s looking for entertainment.

Activities give guests something to do beyond eating and drinking and help break the ice between teams that do not always work together. For an adult corporate crowd, the ones I am asked for most include:
